What is the Yellow Book CPE requirement?
Auditors who perform work under the GAO’s Government Auditing Standards (the “Yellow Book”) must complete 24 hours of CPE every two years in subjects directly related to government auditing, the government environment, or the specific or unique environment in which the audited entity operates. A full 80-hour general CPE requirement also applies over the two-year period. Review the full requirements at GAO.gov.

Who needs Yellow Book CPE?
Any auditor who conducts financial audits, attestation engagements, reviews, or performance audits in accordance with Government Auditing Standards is subject to the Yellow Book CPE requirement. This commonly includes CPAs at public accounting firms auditing government entities, state and local government auditors, single audit practitioners, and inspectors general staff.
